Denver-based blackened trio THE MUNSENS presents their latest single, the title track to their impending debut LP, Unhanded, due February 15th through Denver’s Sailor Records. The new track is thrown into the public spotlight through a premiere at Decibel Magazine. Additionally, the band has announced their Unhanded Tour which consumes most of March, and preorders for the album have also been issued.
Having carved out a place of their own in the much-lauded Denver metal scene over recent years,THE MUNSENS‘ debut LPUnhanded is a step in a new direction for the band, melding elements of the members’ early influences in punk, black metal, and hardcore. Offering a more complete representation of the outfit’s output from prior releases, Unhanded distinguishes THE MUNSENS as one of the more unique and enthralling bands on the metal touring circuit. The LP comes following a productive 2018 Summer that included performances at Psycho Las Vegas, 71Grind IV, Austin Terror Fest, Electric Funeral Fest, and more.
With the premiere of their “Underhanded” single, THE MUNSENS‘ Mike Goodwin states, “Most rational people grasp that the socioeconomic status quo is unsustainable. What’s been grossly overstated and misinterpreted is the general ‘resistance’ thus far. If and when an actual subversion of the current order gains footing, we will see unprecedented manipulation, depravity and chaos. Thus far, we’ve managed to connect the world in spinning mindlessly through a dark, hypocritical parody.” He adds, “Overall, this new record brings forth a more comprehensive – in both sound and substance – representation of the band.”
Decibel posts with the track, “On their debut LP, the Colorado trio welcome a stronger influence from punk and black metal, a punishing addition to the stoner doom core of THE MUNSENS. One of the prime examples of that on Unhanded is the title track; beginning as a galloping piece of blackened punk, a sludgy, dissonant undercurrent pulls the song into a grim crawl for its second half.”
