HYPOXIA – Heavy Blog Is Heavy Streams “Despise” From NYC Act With Members Of Monstrosity, Vile, And More

As New York City death metal outfit HYPOXIA – featuring within its ranks members of Monstrosity, Secrecy, Castrator, Lethal Entity, and more – prepares to release its new Abhorrent Disease full-length through Selfmadegod Records next week, Heavy Blog Is Heavy has debuted the decimating new single, “Despise.” The band has also booked a hometown release show for the album which hits Brooklyn this Friday ahead of the record’s official unveiling.

HYPOXIA has created their most vicious outing yet with Abhorrent Disease. Recorded at Full Force Studios (Suffocation, Internal Bleeding, Dehumanized), the album delivers a nearly forty-minute onslaught of death metal hate, with belligerent vocal devastation, deep-set hooks, and furious blasts attacking the listener with every track. Abhorrent Disease was completed with cover art created by Daemorph (The Black Dahlia Murder, Avulsed, Pyrexia).

Vocalist Mike Hrubovcak offers, “The chorus of this song really says it all; “I DESPISE YOU! I loathe you.” Keep chanting that in your head over and over and let it sink in. It’s the perfect sing-along – a death metal anthem of pure misanthropic hate.”

Heavy Blog Is Heavy’s assessment concludes, “Sporting one Mike Hrubovcak (Monstrosity), plenty of guitars tracks, and some monstrous bass, this New York-based death metal ensemble is here to do one thing and one thing only: burn a hole through your eardrums… I think the thing that first leaped out at me when I first heard this track were the aforementioned bass-lines; they’re so prominent and well crafted, adding a real weight to the track. Second were of course the vitriolic vocals of Hrubovcak and their absolute sickening tone, channeling well the furious energies of this track, whether through deepest growl or higher screech. Everything else, including the blistering solo after the half point mark, the breakneck drums, and the production, sort of coalesced around those two elements, creating the excellent offering that is “Despise”. If you’re a fan of muscular, no-nonsense death metal then this is an album you should be watching out for!”
