The Lone Madman is an epic doom metal band from Helsinki, Finland. Founded in 2014, their first EP, Dreary Task, was released in 2016. The Lone Madman‘s roots are deep in traditional doom and heavy metal, but instead of being strictly tied to one specific genre, they have managed to create a sound all their own. The musical foundation is in the heavy, gloomy riffs that pay homage to the sound of the ’70s and ’80s, and on top of this, the quartet incorporates elements of various metal subgenres. Combining something old and something new, The Lone Madman bring forth their vision of epic doom metal in the 2010s.
Let the Night Come, The Lone Madman‘s debut album, thus presents a unique style of modern epic doom metal. One can hear echoes from their Dreary Task EP, but the album also takes the band’s sound to a whole new level with its rich songwriting and arrangements. Let the Night Comewas recorded from summer to fall 2018 and mixed the following spring and summer 2019. Thematically, the album deals with grief, despair, and spiritual pain. It tells of the struggle at the crossroads of life and death, light and darkness, spirit and matter. The album’s four epic tracks envision four different approaches to these age-old yet ever-relevant challenges. Looking at this world with honesty doesn’t give much grounds for optimism – thus, Let the Night Come – and, perhaps, eventually sparks of a new kind of light can be seen in the darkness. Let The Lone Madman show you the way!
