Cvlt Nation is currently streaming “The Abysmal Chapter”, the new single from Italy’s death metal unit EKPYROSIS. The premiere comes on the eve of the start of the band’s European tour with CRYPTIC BROOD. Stream it HERE!
EKPYROSIS’ death metal blends the innate aggression of the genre with a dense, gloomy atmosphere that often results in dark and doomy sections. Shrouded in reverberation yet clearly developing riff-centered structures, their latest single “The Abysmal Chapter” concatenates different paces, binding them together with a recurrent harmonic theme and captivating vocals. The band’s aesthetics and lyricism deal with the suggestive realm of cosmology and outer space, which is depicted through the unrelenting obscurity of the music.
EKPYROSIS’ members are all in their early 20’s, still the band has already managed to actively tour Europe, play several festivals and release music on all formats (1 full-length, 2 EPs, a live recording and few demos) in their 6 years of existence.
With the release of this new single on Necrotheism Productions, available digitally and physically as a split tape with Germany’s CRYPTIC BROOD – whom they’ll be supporting on tour in November – EKPYROSIS also introduce new members Fabiano Aldegani (drums) and Leonardo Sala (bass), who join founding members Nicolò Brambilla (vocals, guitar) and Marco Teodoro (vocals, guitar). The band’s new solid line-up is working on the second full-length. The new single “The Abysmal Chapter” can be considered a preview of what’s to come.
On November 14th EKPYROSIS will leave for a 10 days European tour named “In The Grip of Death” 2019 – just like with the split release, the band will be sharing the stage with German death metal trio CRYPTIC BROOD. The complete tour routing is as follows:
