UNLEASHED (SWE) & EINHERJER (NO) headline the second round of Denmark’s new Viking / pagan metal festival UDGÅRDSFEST 2020!
After a successful debut in 2019, where Trollfest and Moonsorrow delivered fantastic shows, we are now ready to release the Giants in Pumpehuset YET again in 2020. Yes! UDGÅRDSFEST returns in 2020 and we do so with an even stronger and darker program!
For UDGÅRDSFEST 2020, we once again pay our tribute to the Nordic culture in terms of music, art and food. For two days Pumpehuset will be transformed into a giant’s cave, where metal from the Nordic countries will be the focus and puts its distinctive mark in the decoration of both Pumpehuset and Byhaven.
Last year Pumpehuset was adorned with beautiful and style-creating art from the tattoo group “Art on the Body”, which with their Nordic drawings helped to set the very right framework for UDGÅRDSFEST. So was the giant steel hammer that adorned Pumpehuset’s room most beautifully, created by Odin Asbjørn Andersen. Not to mention the lovely folk musicians who set the mood both in Byhaven and inside the Pumpehuset before, between and after the concerts.
By 2020, we are not going to turn down the mood. PUMPEHUSET will once again be filled with Nordic ambience filled with art, special stalls and of course the music.

Unleashed (SWE) – plays Saturday 22/8
If it comes to Swedish Death Metal in its traditional Stockholm-Style and Death Metal in general, there is one band you HAVE TO MENTION: UNLEASHED! Formed back in 1989 by Johnny Hedlund, UNLEASHED have been delivering supreme death metal from day one! After recording two demos the band released their legendary debut album ‘Where “No Life Dwells’” and toured Europe and the US with Morbid Angel. From this point UNLEASHED has become one of the biggest names in death metal worldwide. Dealing with Viking traditions and values they stepped up their game and became extreme metal trendsetters, musically and lyrically.
UNLEASHED will shake the foundations of Pumpehuset, so even Thor must look beaten!
Einherjer (NO) – plays Friday 21/8
Traditional Norwegian Viking Metal doesn’t come cleaner than EINHERJER! They simply helped creating the genre. With the releases of “Dragons Of The North” in 1996 and “Odin Owns Ye All” in 1998, EINHERJER along with Enslaved helped set the standard for what Norwegian Viking metal came to be, with their hard-hitting and sometimes rocky expression.
In 2019, EINHERJER is up to date again with last year’s excellent release “Norrøne Spor!” You can look forward to EINHERJER ready to give us all a show in Norrøn rock’n’roll for the first time in Copenhagen since 2001!

Varang Nord (LET)
In the summer of 2019, Udgårdsfest booker, Søren Weiss, was at Wacken Open Air to once again attend the traditionally Wacken Metal Battle Finale. In 30 nations, one band stood out, impressed all the judges and won it all: the folk metal VARANG NORD from Latvia!
Of course this band should be booked for the Udgårdsfest 2020, where for the first time in Denmark they will launch a party that only Korpiklaani, Trollfest and Finntroll are familiar with.
VARANG NORD has just toured with Ensiferum and plays in February at the folk / fantasy festival Wacken Winter Nights. We are proud to present them in Denmark for UDGÅRDSFEST 2020.
Heidra (DK)
HEIDRA hardly needs the big introduction when it comes to Danish Viking metal! The band has since their formation in 2006 enriched us with the EP “Sworn to Vengeance” from 2012 and the two full lengths “Awaiting Dawn” and “The Blackening Tide”. They know how to make an epic and melodic Viking metal show! The band has toured Europe with Ensiferum and Fleshgod Apocalypse and has recently just returned from a major European tour with Omnium Gatherum and Hamferd.
Ethereal Kingdoms (DK)
ETHEREAL KINGDOMS is the sound of Nordic symphonic metal. With the release of the critically acclaimed album “Hollow Mirror” earlier this year, the symphonic metal band has taken Denmark by storm in a style we have otherwise never marked ourselves in. ETHEREAL KINGDOMS intends to change that. And they do so with style in the use of authentic instruments such as violins to promote their expression. ETHEREAL KINGDOMS has previously, with great success, supported both Finntroll and Wintersun in Denmark. We are looking forward to presenting this symphonic gem at the UDGÅRDSFEST 2020!
