Perth, Australia progressive death metal group XENOBIOTIC havepremiered a music video for their song “Grieving the Loss of Self” today at Exclaim. The track is from the band’s new album Mordrake which was release on February 21 via Unique Leader.
XENOBIOTIC said of the video, “Mordrake is the story of a broken person: an individual destroyed by a series of harrowing circumstances, brought on by the dichotomy of twisted pathologies in both internal and external worlds. The trilogy of music videos we released is a retelling of this story in three acts: The Question, The Search and The Answer.
We would like to present you with the final act; “Grieving the Loss of Self.” This song is an insight into a state of being completely lost, of waking up alone to find nothing but a corrupted spirit consumed by dissonance. This is doubtlessly the heaviest, darkest and most relentless music ever written by this band, driven by rage, paranoia and the recurrent betrayal of a broken mind.”
Mordrake, which Exclaim called “a must-listen record for fans looking for a tight, well-rounded work of modern progressive death metal” is the follow up to XENOBIOTIC‘s well received debut full length, Prometheus and sees the groupdelving further into the unrelentingly crushing technical brutality combined with sickening, ruinous atmospherics that has garnered them attention throughout the world. The new album is a calamitous, almost uncomfortably bleak listen. With Mordrake, XENOBIOTIC have proven that they are a limitlessly extreme band and not for the feint of heart.
The 11 track album was recorded and mixed by Matthew Templeman (Make Them Suffer) with mastering by Simon Struthers at Forensic Audio. Artwork for the effort was done by Mariusz Lewandowski (Psycroptic, Bell Witch, Fuming Mouth).
