KARI RUESLÅTTEN (Storm / The 3rd and the Mortal) releases new single; album details announced

Norwegian artist Kari Rueslåtten is set to release her new album “Sørgekåpe” on May 8th via Spindelsinn Recordings. The title-track of the upcoming album is now available as a single, which you can listen to at this location: https://karirueslatten.com/sorgekape/?fbclid=IwAR1mDZaZUHtQQrDgO7Dze9DZ0SS7uw1XcK35F5q8basaiFhjos3CG8OZKDc

Sørgekåpe starts where the Northern Sky meets a broken heart that cannot be mended. In this song Kari Rueslåtten aims to describe those lonely hours at night when every thought is blowing out of its proportions, and one loses the battle against reality. By the time morning light finds its way through the curtains, the mind is so fragile, it can be tipped over by the gentle touch of a butterflies’ wing. (Sørgekåpe is the Norwegian name for the butterfly Camberwell Beauty, or Mourning Cloak)

Kari Rueslåtten has one of the finest voices of alternative Nordic folk-pop, and a worldwide fan-base. She is known for her dark-edged melancholy uncovering the beauty hiding in the dark. The single is taken from the forthcoming album Sørgekåpe out spring 2020. This will be her eight solo album.

Kari Rueslåtten was one of the founder members of the progressive doom metal band The 3rd and the Mortal. The band defined a genre, and Kari Rueslåtten was one of the first role models for female singers fronting metal bands in the 1990s, and the main inspiration for many bands such as Nightwish and The Gathering. Toumas Holopainen (Nightwish), with whom Kari Rueslåtten also have collaborated, has claimed Kari Rueslåtten’s voice as one of the greatest in the world.
