One-woman dark neofolk project, Ols, unveil a new single and music video entitled “W Ciemny Las” (translates to “Into A Dark Forest” from Polish). This is the second single off their upcoming album “Widma” (translates to “Spectres”) which is scheduled for a 17 April 2020 release via Pagan Records.

Anna Maria Oskierko, the brains behind the project, explains:
“The second single from the new album is a song-vision, a mesmerising lullaby bringing bad dreams. This is reflected in the song’s lyrics: One had to go across the bridge. Narrow. Made of blades and knives. Over the river of flames. There are several deaths during one’s lifetime – a different one after each passing. First – people leave, then the senses fail. Memories are lost in the darkness of the dead past. An old woman remains, alone in the house of her own head. A sad queen in the castle of her own skull. There is nothing outside anymore, she can only go deeper inside, into a dark forest…”
Although Ols‘ music often tends to be labelled as dark neofolk, the project bridges multiple styles and genres, such as folk, ambient music and atmospheric black metal. Thematically, Ols – a Polish word for the alder forest growing on swamps and marshes – explores the magical realms of misty forests and mysterious wetlands.
