Today, fast-rising US black metal force WORSEN premiere their new video for “Open Grave” at heavily trafficked web magazine No Clean Singing. The clip is streaming now at THIS LOCATION.
The track comes off the band’s debut full-length, “Cursed To Witness Life”, which was originally released in June 2019 on CD/Cassette/Digital formats. Now, after months of delay due to COVID-19, it will see its first vinyl release from Wolves of Hades (Europe) and The Hell Command (USA).
Despite being a solo/studio project focus, WORSEN has now evolved into a band with a full line up that has performed live and is preparing material for their next release.
After several years of silence, North Carolina black metal entity WORSEN returned last year with the long-awaited follow up to 2014’s “Blood” EP in the form of a violent and somber 40 minute full length album called “Cursed to Witness Life”.
Founder and multi-instrumentalist Rick Contes noted, “If there was something I wasn’t satisfied with I would trash it and start over. That’s one of the reasons it took several years for this album to come together.” Regarding the recording process he continued, “Just like the previous releases, I recorded all instruments and vocals. This a very personal and cathartic record for me that is lyrically focused on the death of my brother as well as dramatic conclusions to hollow friendships and the removal of toxic people and things from my life. It’s something I started alone that I needed to finish alone.”
