72 Year-Old GRINDMOTHER Releases Cover of SYSTEM OF A DOWN “Forest”

The Canadian grindcore band fronted by 72 year-old namesake vocalist GRINDMOTHER have released their own version of the 2001 System of a Down classic “Forest”. A video for the song, which features a guest backing band comprised of Alexandria Ocasio-CortezBernie Sanders and Jagmeet Singh, is available to watch below via Youtube.

Guitarist Rain Forest comments: “My Mom and I recorded this song back in 2018, but I never finished the music until now. A few months ago I decided to try writing completely different drum beats for the song and at that point it really started to take on a life of it’s own.”

Grindmother began her grindcore career by accident in 2015, when a video of her trying to scream into a microphone went viral.  Several months later, she released the song “Any Cost” which featured music by her son Rain Forest.  The response was so overwhelming that they recorded a full album “Age of Destruction” in 2016 and toured consistently over the next couple of years.
