Dissonant black metal band NORSE premiere stunning new track via Decibel Magazine

Enigmatic black metal entity Norse have been going strong over the years and they’ve been honing their sound with each one. The latest one is probably their most refined and catchiest one yet, while retaining their trademark dissonance and eerie, otherworldly sound. Decibel Magazine premiered a brand new song from the latest album AT THIS LINK. Excerpt –

“the way in which Australia’s Norse subverts paradigms with old rhythms, dissonant chords, and weirdness — not unlike what latter day Gorguts does within death metal, really — on Ascetic is a welcome shake up”

-“shape-shifting monstrosity” – No Clean Singing (US)

-“‘Ascetic’ is a record designed to confound, to terrify and to absorb your mind into its splintering insanity” – The Killchain (UK)

-“Uneasy listening at its terrifying best” – Metal Roos (Germany) 4.5/5

-“Terrifyingly brilliant” – The Coroners Report (New Zealand) 9.5/10

-“a harbinger of heartless destruction it sure is exhilarating.” – Blessed Altar (UK) 8.5/10

-““Ascetic” is a powerful offering by NORSE. It’s compelling, intriguing, and never dull.” – Metal Temple (Greece) 8/10

Dissonant black metal entity Norse have forged a unique sound over the years playing intense, bleak and somewhat futuristic music which they’ve only honed with each subsequent album. They play calculated, atonal yet highly rhythmic music delivered with machine-like precision which sounds markedly different and refreshing when most black metal bands are too reliant on their progenitors for laying down the framework. Never does it seem as though they’ve lost their way delving deep into the dissonant territories; Norse have a predefined trajectory even with its myriad variations and undulations. They adhere to their mutated sound which is awash with harsh, venomous vocals, adding character to the otherworldly mechanised riffing and unrelenting spasmodic waves of blasting. This long-running Australian band have created singular music that not only defies the trends but also holds its own alongside that of other similar-minded contemporaries on the label such as ReplicantVeilburnerand Crypts of Despair.
