Today, death metal deviants Exsul premiere the new track “Psychomachia” at heavily trafficked web-portal NoCleanSinging.com. The track is the second to be revealed from the band’s highly anticipated second EP, Allegoresis, set for international release on October 22nd via Caligari Records on CD and cassette tape formats. It was but November 2020 when Exsul inconspicuously emerged from the void with their self-released/self-titled debut EP. But, the cosmic winds were blowing and dread soon spread, with Exsul finding a wider release (and wider acclaim) through Caligari. And for good reason: Exsul presented “death metal” and also death metal, deranged and strange and undeniably with their own perverse twist. That subsequent CD edition provoked & punished the converted and unbelievers alike.
Reveling in the perversion and reemerging from the cave, Exsul soon strike again with a second EP, Allegoresis, a 24-minute revelation in six parts. Here within, one finds new conjurations of three ancient allegories. Still steeped in the oldest schools, Exsul again manifests new DEATH METAL, continuing to push through the redundant mediocrity of today’s emulators. Their sound’s as intimidating as ever: equally gangrenous riffing and vocals, slithering ‘n’ slimy blasts that morph into chest-cavity-crushing doom stomps, songwriting that’s strange and almost improvisational yet fully locked-in, as well as utterly megaton-weight production. So, essentially Exsul but taken to stranger and stronger ends, with the power-duo exhibiting a more concertedly world-eating sensation despite being two mere mortals – Allegoresis, by contrast, sounds summoned by an army of primordial troglodytes gifted extraterrestrial sentience.
SHADOWS. HEARSAY. INIQUITY. VENGEANCE.
