Newcastle melodic metal sensations Purenvy just released their crushing new single ‘Sweet Poison’. Featuring blasting drums, thrashing riffs & belting vocals, the group delivers a fierce anthem surrounding the hardships of addiction & recovery.

‘Sweet Poison’ is the culmination of over a year’s worth of creative frustration, resulting in some of the group’s strongest work to date that warrants multiple listens. Treating listeners to a tasteful combination of modern, classic, and thrash metal genres, this is the band’s first offering since the release of their sophomore album ‘Redemption’ (2018). Underneath its blistering exterior, ‘Sweet Poison’ carries a deeper message as vocalists Adam Kiefel and Josip Malkoč explore the damaging nature of substance abuse.

Drummer Zac Swan on the new release “This song originally started as a riff that our guitarist and vocalist Josip brought to a rehearsal session. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory, we’ve all battled with addiction at some point, and it can be difficult to take the first step toward getting better. Recording the song was a lot of fun. The drums have a lot of different feels, between the straight 4/4 and the more swung 6/8 sections, but also there were a lot of opportunities to try some new techniques with chokes, dynamics, and double kicks.”

No strangers to the music scene, Purenvy’s body of work has been garnering national coverage & airplay including features on Heavy Mag, Wall Of Sound, MetalGodsTV, Loud Mag, Rebel FM, and more. The band’s electric live performances have landed them appearances at festivals such as Steel Assassins (Sydney), OutmoshYaMa (Brisbane), Thrashfest (Melbourne), Thrashville (Hunter Valley), and most recently Metal Alliance Festival (Sydney). With the release of ‘Sweet Poison’, more new music & a national tour to follow, Purenvy is hungrier than ever to bring their blend of heavy metal across the nation to their ever-growing fanbase.’Sweet Poison’ is out now via lnk.to/SweetPoisonPE
