Biography

Hopelessness is a melodic death/doom metal band founded in 2001 in Zumarraga/Urretxu (Gipuzkoa, Basque Country) by Patxi on guitar (Ihes Indar), Igor on vocals (Unholy Pain) and Txemi on drums (Ihes Indar). A year later, Ion joins the bass (Unholy Pain), thus, definitively forming the band’s first line-up.

After some concerts, they record the demo Paradise of Sin in November 2003. Coinciding with the release of the demo in 2004, Borja (Unholy Pain) enters on bass and Ion switches to guitar. With this formation they begin to play more and more concerts throughout the state and, in 2005, they record the album Broken Tears in Solitude at the SoundSource studios, under Arkaitz Kako’s guidance. After the release of the album and some more concerts, the band ends up dissolving in 2007.

In 2010 Hopelessness gathers to play live again, with Raff (The Nekrobabies) as the new bassist. After a few concerts with this new formation, the band breaks up again in 2012.

In 2017 Hopelessness gets back together for more live playing, giving a concert at the end of the year. In 2018, both Raff and Igor leave the band and shortly afterwards, the new bassist Aitor (S.F.O.) joins the band. Since then, the band has been preparing a new album, as well as looking for a singer to continue performing live.
