“A sweeping, intergalactic prog metal rollercoaster.”
– Heavy Blog is Heavy
“A very enjoyable and very worthwhile album. Whilst having a seemingly heavily laden edge, the music is, in fact, full of melodic charm and drenched with cleverly worked arrangements.” (90/100)
– House of Prog
“They have a penchant for catchy melody and hooks – tough to achieve within a progressive music framework – and go over the top in vibe more than in songwriting. Their music is a ton of fun.”
– Toilet ov Hell
“By melding the wide range from progrock to death metal, PARIUS clearly deliver one of this year’s most exciting prog records. The compositions are flawless, skillfully performed, and well produced.”
– Mostly-Metal
“Blending progressive metal with technical and 70s progressive influences, the album offers a sprawling interconnected vision of modern progressive metal.”
– Wonderbox Metal
“Each of the 10 titles could be put forward to illustrate the talent of this relatively young group having succeeded in an exemplary reconversion.”
– COREandCO
“A fun album, full of moments that will give fans of good Progressive
Metal enjoyment.”
– The Dark Melody
“There is a variety of vocals and even long songs are designed to be entertaining. The drums are often quite progressive. Heavy guitar riffs in combination with powerful drums ensure heaviness.”
– Metal-Heads.de
“Progressive metal lovers will be satisfied with The Signal Heard Throughout Space, as it has many elements that make it interesting.”
– Metallerium

The Signal Heard Throughout Space will be the full-length debut for drummer Dan Silver, and the band’s first release with keyboardist Sean Gallagher. On the new album, PARIUS deftly combines the cohesive songwriting of bands like Mastodon and Opeth with the eccentricities of bands like Mr. Bungle and The Mars Volta. Produced with the illustrious and Grammy-nominated Jamie King, the record is a bona fide, 60-minute rock opera more than twice as lengthy as 2018’s The Eldritch Realm.
On enlisting the eclectic talents of Jamie King, the band wanted the production side of their new album to be a nod to some of the classic albums of the late 70s and early 80s, such as Rush’s Hemispheres, while still freely allowing the songwriting to explore any territory the band desired.
The album concept in the band’s own words:
“The Signal Heard Throughout Space is a conceptual rock opera that tells the story of a space captain who hears a distress signal, whether real or in a dream, and he sets out to find its source. The album chronicles the Captain’s search as he struggles with the self-doubt that comes with trying to accomplish his goals, all while hopelessly compelled to complete his mission. He encounters a cosmic being called “The Formulator” who both helps and hinders him on his journey. The message of the album is that of perseverance in the face of adversity and developing the strength to see the goals you set for yourself through, despite the outcome.
Musically, we looked at every rock opera we could find from Jesus Christ Superstar to Ziltoid the Omniscient and ended up testing out a ton of ideas. We probably wrote 3-5 albums worth of material that we scrapped before writing most of the material that would end up on the final album. We just weren’t ready to write this big, interconnected album yet that our vocalist Louis Thierry had conceptualized – it took a couple of years.
While we anticipate that this record could estrange some of the death metal fans that we had courted with the past couple of EPs – we think that those who appreciated the more fun elements, the songwriting focus, and the depth of layers from those EPs will find that these elements are heightened on this new 60-minute album – which is in no small part due to the addition of Sean Gallagher on keyboards, and the legendary Jamie King; who co-produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered the album at his studio in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We just felt like it was the right time for us to try and make something unique to us that nobody else could make, and we feel like we’ve done that with The Signal Heard Throughout Space.”
