Swedish death metal band Faustus have finally release the debut single “Sleep” off their upcoming album Memoriam. “The track was one of the last songs we wrote during the writing process, with basically no energy left. When the song was finally done, we felt that something was missing. Imagine the frustation! But an idea started to manifest inside our minds, which we tried it out with the help of Edward Scissorhands. Just like that, we found the missing piece that finally led to the completion of the song and made it awesome!” says the band regarding the track. “Fun fact, the ending section played by the guitar was only a placeholder, as the initial idea was to swap it out. However, there was a misunderstanding regarding that, so it eventually became a part of the song, haha! It’s chaotic as hell, but we are satisfied after all. This song means a lot to us and we are happy it became the first release of the album, as it basically reflects the entire record. Our upcoming posts will offer even more, so stay tuned!
The single was recorded at Obsidian Recordings, located in Studio Fredman, mixed and mastered by Robert Kukla and Fredrik Nordström. The video was shot by Daniel Wahlström at Heavy Groove Media.
