When the jack-of-all-trades Rogga Johansson gets ready to launch a new project, you can be sure to be dealing with the very essence of Swedish death metal. With ASTROPHYTE, the Swede together with Fredrik Petersson is now preparing to send his next horse into the race and with “2192” the corresponding album is already in the starting blocks. Originally planned for May, the longplayer, which is based on the role-playing game Mutant Chronicles World, will finally see the light of day on 30 June. And something else is different in this case: With Indii Hofvander, who already had a guest appearance on the Furnace album “Stellarum”, a haunting, almost pleading, female voice characterises large parts of the music – and thus, besides Mike Hubrovcak’s growls, contributes not insignificantly to the oppressively heavy overall atmosphere of the album. You can expect 9 songs which, shaped by typical trademarks of Nordic death metal of the nineties, has many more finesses in store. Stay tuned!
