HOUSE OF FLOWERS – Atmospheric, raw and gloomy post-metal from Ukraine

“Atmospheric, raw and gloomy record, but amidst this gloominess, there is a warm ray that gives hope.”

«I Will Dissolve» is the new EP by the Ukrainian post-metal band House Of Flowers. It will be released on July 28 on the Neformat Family label.

The band worked on these songs for several years due to constant changes in the band’s line-up, burnout and other personal matters. And then a full-scale war in Ukraine significantly delayed the release.

As usual, musicians recorded all the EP at their rehearsal base. They started this process not long before February 24, 2022, and planned to improve it later, but, as a result, returned to the EP only six months later.

Obviously, the war turned everything upside down. With the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, musical matters may have taken a back seat. For the first few months, I couldn’t even listen to music, let alone make it”, – says drummer Arthur.

Mixing and mastering during the winter blackouts was also not an easy task for House Of Flowers.

“If you have a ready song, record it right away,” – advices Arthur.

At the same time, House Of Flowers members believe that this EP is “the quintessence of emotions for a certain period of our lives.”

“This music has something from each of our members. After all, in our case, music is not a plan or an idea, it is energy that comes into this world through us. Inspiration for us is a wave, a feeling, that you need to pick up a guitar right now and say something, — says guitarist Yehor.

House Of Flowers usually pay a lot of attention to the release visual component. This time, talented Ukrainian illustrator and tattoo artist Ksenia Bilan created the artwork.

“Visuals play a big role for me. Most of the time, I choose releases to listen to based primarily on the artwork, because you can immediately predict how interesting the music itself and the approach to it can be”, — says Arthur.

House Of Flowers band was founded in Dnipro city at the beginning of 2017. The same year, the band wrote four songs and played at a closed party with White Ward and besideMe in Dnipro. However, work on the debut EP “Is This The End?” dragged on, and it was released only in September 2019. The band completely recorded and mixed this EP at small home studio Solastalgia Records.

After that, House Of Flowers had new performances and continued to work on the new EP “I Will Dissolve”. On July 7, 2023, the first single from it was released – “Everything Falls Apart At The End”.
