Brazilian thrash metal annihilators Sacrifix, led by guitarist Frank Gasparotto, released their long-awaited sophomore album “Killing Machine” on August 19th.

Apart from the traditional streaming platforms, “Killing Machine” was also released on physical CD through a partnership between the labels Impaled Records, Sangue Underground Records, Gerunda Produções, Artes Negras, Rocketz Records, Cossoco Records and Gate Of Doom Records.

A natural progression from their highly acclaimed debut “World Decay 19” (2020), “Killing Machine” was written and recorded in the first half of 2022, produced by Frank Gasparotto, and mixed/mastered by Marco Nunes at Tori Studios, São Paulo, Brazil (@marconunestoristudios). Some of the more obvious developments were the fuller and heavier riffs, more inspired and textured solos, and the use of much more aggressive and tearing vocal layers.

The previous two singles, “Rape Democracy” (2022) and “Killing Machine” (2023), the latter of which includes the unreleased “Mundo Nojento” (free translation: ‘Filthy World’) as a B-side, have been widely acclaimed as more technical, heavy, visceral and brutal than anything the band has done to date.

The lyrical themes covered on the album were much more diverse than on the previous album, touching on subjects like serial killers, fiction, violence, a society lost in chaos, and religion (blind faith), all adorned with constant criticism of the rotten environment in which we live.

Frank Gasparotto comments on the album lyrics: “I really tried to expand the chaos this time around. For example, the lyrics of ‘Ancient Aggression’ were inspired by a Netflix series called ‘The Chosen One’, which tells the story of blind faith in a prophet who seems to heal people and keep peace in their village, but it’s not really how it happens.”

For “Killing Machine”, Frank decided to keep the same producing, mixing and mastering as the previous album, wich was done by Marco Nunes“Marco Nunes, besides being a great friend, is an excellent professional and one of the best producers in metal today. So why mess with a winning team? Also, I have to admit that having the brilliant guest appearances by my friends and the great musicians of the scene, Murillo Leite (Genocídio) and Maurício Amaral (Anthares), was like taking the soccer field with more attackers (laughs).”

According to the premise of the creation of Sacrifix three years ago, the band’s sound is and always will be old school, heavy, chaotic, brutal and overwhelming. “We are here not only to respect the roots of thrash metal, but also to disturb the sleep of the fashionable people and separate the adults from the children”, concludes Frank Gasparotto.
