Today, Francophile black metallers Chaînes premiere the new track “Que vos morts soient souillés jusqu’à l’os” at heavily trafficked web-portal InvisibleOranges.com. The track is the second to be revealed from the band’s highly anticipated debut album, Les Litanies des Chaînes, set for international release on October 31st via Amor Fati Productions. Chaînes is the phoenix which rose from the ashes of the now-defunct Merda Mundi, which was declared dead in 2023. Formed by the insanely prolific Déhà in 2023 out of spite, Chaînes is a true black metal entity whose influences come from the French-speaking scene (Belgium, France, Quebec, Switzerland). As Chaînes, Déhà thusly delivers cold & bleak black art, devoted only to Satan, bringing back another side of what black metal is about: devotion, passion, integrity. Consider this entity not so much a regressive “throwback” as a reinvigoration of too-long-lost values.
Written exclusively in French, Les Litanies des Chaînes is a maelstrom of soot-dark riffs and palpitatingly paced black metal, hypothetically standing like a lost reject from Mütiilation or Hate Forest, whilst keeping an originality through a piercing voice, a sound quality which defies modern standards and the “old school” sound, creating the perfect blend between power and violence, all while staying true rather than “true.” Chaînes feels like a noose – not made of rope, but spiked chains.
