Hungarian progressive rock/metal band At Night I Fly will release its new album titled ‘collision/fusion/division’ on September 20th via H-Music – listen to the first single “The Sacrificial Lamb” here:

As with the band’s previous album (‘Mirror Maze’ – 2019 – NAILCD308), the new release is a kind of a thematic anthology. This time the songs tell stories about psychological issues in relationships – in line with the theme of the anthology, this song is also about a relationship issue: violence, the repetition of childhood traumas in adulthood, and abusive and narcissistic behaviour wrapped in a religious cloak.
“Collision, entanglement, separation: each song tells stories of relationships, sometimes from personal experience, sometimes from the stories of others. Total devotion, narcissistic repression and missteps, over-attachment and hard goodbyes, loss and new beginnings. These songs go beyond the stereotype of ‘happily ever after’ and present life situations that are often invisible to outside observers or even to the participants” – explains singer Zoltán ‘BZ’ Bátky.

The songs on collision/fusion/division were written by guitarist Ádám Horváth András Horváth and singer BZ, with the other band members contributing their ideas to some of the songs. The majority of the recording process has happened at Transparent Sound studio under András’ supervision, while additional recording, mixing and mastering was done by Barnabás Hidasi (HL Studio).
“Once again, we have worked to the maximum and have tried to show the widest spectrum of our musical palette. So from epic, cinematic atmospheres to the hardest At Night I Fly song to date, we have everything – even a single acoustic guitar song. By bringing together as many of the musical styles that have influenced us as possible, we’ve created the most complex yet cohesive musical world we’ve ever heard, and we’re very proud of the outcome. This diversity is enhanced by guest vocalists, an eight-piece choir and the 24-piece string section of ‘Budapest Art Orchestra’, a regular contributor to Netflix, HBO series and blockbuster movies. The latter is conducted by Péter Pejtsik, founder of After Crying, who also helped me with the string arrangements this time” – says András Ádám Horváth.
