The fantasy folk/world music project AN DANZZA presents Dama de Anboto, the second single from their new album Encantadas.
The track, inspired by the goddess Mari, one of the most enigmatic and powerful figures in Basque mythology, is available on digital platforms and as a music video on YouTube.
Dama de Anboto delves into the story of Mari, the goddess of earth and storms in Basque mythology, whose preferred home is the Anboto cave in the mountains of Euskadi. As the protector of nature and guardian of ancient secrets, Mari embodies the untamable power of the earth and is a deeply respected figure: she punishes lies and greed, controls the weather, guards treasures, and connects the human world with the supernatural realm. Her mysterious presence symbolizes the Basque people’s ancestral connection with the land and natural cycles, reminding us of the essential balance between humans and their environment.
Dama de Anboto is the second single from Encantadas, following Moura, a track inspired by the Galician legend of the moura from Castro de Negros. Encantadas, An Danzza’s upcoming album, is a collection of fairy legends from across the Iberian Peninsula, featuring tales from Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, the Basque Country, Catalonia, Murcia, Madrid, Guadalajara, Extremadura, and Portugal. The new album is currently in production and will be available in the coming months.
An Danzza is an original fantasy folk/world music group that has just celebrated 20 years.
