SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY and METH. team up on experimental split, ASYMMETRICS, out now on Good Fight Music

Experimental metal bands See You Next Tuesday and Meth. have teamed up to release an absolutely frenetic and unique split, ASYMMETRICS, out today through Good Fight Music. The entirety of the release is an artistic experiment, based over shared drum tracks.

See You Next Tuesday explain:

“Right around the completion of our album Relapses, Jimmy (Watson, drums) & Drew (Slavik, guitar) had the idea of doing a collaborative split, which ultimately became an amalgamation of musical chairs and a social experiment. After several months of hurdles preventing anything from really taking off, we finally sorted out the exact details of the project and collaborated with our colleagues and friends in Meth.

Our guidelines were as follows:

Each band would write & record three songs, & then share only the drum tracks with the other band. Each band would then write new music and lyrics over the exchanged tracks. Neither band would hear anything from the other until everything was complete to ensure one couldn’t influence the other. In the end, we were astonished at what we had all accomplished. We’re thrilled & proud to present, ASYMMETRICS.”

ASYMMETRICS is split between the bands into two halves and four chapters. See You Next Tuesday kick things off on Side A with THE ROAD TO DOOM, featuring guest vocals from Guy Kozowyk of The Red Chord, and EUPHORIA with music by Meth. Each chapter features three songs (six in total) pummeling through anxious blast beats, panic-stricken vocals, and just pure chaos.

Meth. combines harsh wall-of-sound instrumentals with visceral and punishing vocals to create an anxiety driven atmosphere for the listener. Their six songs run through Side B with the aptly titled SNARE TRAP and PSALMS OF PAIN featuring guest vocals Billy Bottom of Nights Like These and music by See You Next Tuesday.

Seb Alvarez of Meth. comments on the split coming together:

“I was very excited when Drew tossed this idea at me. I’ve always been one to want to try new things and push new ideas and I really loved the concept of us blindly writing over the same base track and seeing how our ideas aligned or separated. It also forced us to write outside of our comfort zone a bit, reverting back to a style we hadn’t really messed around with since our first EP. Splits should always be avenues to explore ideas you don’t normally get to while also being a platform to collaborate with the band you’re sharing the release with.”

You can listen to ASYMMETRICS HERE and preorder the release on vinyl through Good Fight Music.

See You Next Tuesday is Drew Slavik, Chris Fox, Rick Woods, and James Watson.

Meth. is Seb Alvarez, Zack Farrar, Andrew Smith, Michael McDonald and Nate Spainhower.
