New Zealand death/grindcore outfit Rvkkvs is ready to unleash their debut album, Antithesis of Prosperity, this Friday – November 22nd via Grindhead Records. But fans don’t have to wait until the official release date—Decibel Magazine is now streaming the full album in its chaotic entirety.
According to Decibel Magazine, the album offers “a musically surgical approach to its viciousness, with both guttural death vocals and raw, screamed exhortations,” and “Rvkkvs pack a lot into a very rabid 20 minutes,” a testament to the band’s fierce intensity and powerful delivery.

In the band’s own words: “We have all traveled different paths in metal over decades of extremity in a multitude of forms. Our paths have converged at this stage of our musical journey, into the carnage that is Rvkkvs—a sound that doesn’t draw from the status quo, bringing back that primal urge we seek out of heavy music: to fuck shit up with crafted precision and raw intensity.”
Antithesis of Prosperity is a sonic journey through the filth and destruction of modern society, with every track serving as a visceral depiction of chaos, decay, and regression. The nine songs are a raw, maniacal expression of death grind at its most ferocious, drawing listeners into a nihilistic descent. The band elaborates, “We are proud to present our first album, Antithesis Of Prosperity. Pulling you downward into a filth-ridden rot of your own creation, every effort is countered with a magnetic malaise into destitution. The album represents the descent into regression that is just waiting for all of us, grinning, only a choice away…”

Formed in 2020, Rvkkvs is a collective of longtime friends and occasional musical collaborators who adopt a collaborative approach to songwriting that begins from various instrumental bases. Their music is diverse and intricate, reflecting each member’s unique influences through the lens of extreme metal.
Thematically, the band explores the complexities of human behavior, addressing issues such as pathology, addiction, malice, and the pervasive hubris that surrounds us. They view music and the extremity of their style as a cathartic escape from the daily grind, performing with a sense of humor and steadfast self-esteem. Rvkkvs believes that even in the face of humanity’s darker aspects, we can rise above and find solace in music and the connections it fosters.
