Vocalist/guitarist Dave Meester comments on the track: “I have always been fascinated by the concept of fantasizing, especially a fantasy about another person. This person has no control over your fantasy of them, which can feel very exciting and arousing. Ironically, it also portraits a certain loneliness. The fantasy will never be reality.“
After Taste are simultaniously announcing their brand new album ‘Hungry For Live’, which will be released on May 16, 2025. More news on the album, such as cover artwork and track-list, will be announced soon.
Known for weaving melancholic doom metal with an electronic pulse, this release is a chilling exploration of love, loss, and the fragility of the human mind. With echoes of Paradise Lost, the bleak humor of Type O Negative, and the crushing weight of Triptykon, After Taste masterfully captures the emptiness beneath the surface.

After Taste: Gothic Doom with an Electronic Twist
“Life is boring. Drastic changes must be made.” This mantra embodies the essence of After Taste, a band that skilfully intertwines the realms of industrial, gothic, and doom metal with the pulsating energy of EDM, synthwave, and ambient music. With atmosphere as their guiding principle, After Taste crafts a soundscape that, despite its melancholic and wistful aura, ultimately invites listeners to dance—creating an uneasy yet captivating contrast.
“Who says love is sacred? Anyone can fake it.” With this provocative line, After Taste delves into the profound themes of mental health, family, soulmates, and the duality of life and death, all delivered through the haunting vocals of founding member Dave Meester. The band’s music offers a raw and unfiltered perspective on the complexities of human experience.
After Taste draws inspiration from heavyweights like Type O Negative, Rammstein, Alice in Chains, Triptykon, Killing Joke, and Soundgarden, appealing to fans of gothic and doom metal. Their music is a unique blend of dark themes wrapped in catchy, danceable rhythms—a musical parody of itself, like “a smile without eyes.”
Embracing the true spirit of DIY, After Taste takes pride in handling all aspects of their music and video production independently. “If we don’t know something, we find it, learn it, and apply it. This is as real and imperfect as it gets, giving the band a unique charm,” Meester asserts. They thrive on being the “weird kid” in the music scene.
In a world often steeped in conventionality, After Taste stands out as a beacon of creativity, unafraid to explore the depths of darkness while inviting listeners to dance along the way.
