Rising from the depths of Las Vegas Nevada, blackened death metal outfit Gravethorn is proud to announce their signing with Wormholedeath Records for the release of their upcoming album ‘Atrocitas’. The album, set to drop on December 21, 2024, promises to be a dark, brutal continuation of the band’s signature sound, following the path they forged with their debut release, Underground Rituals of Those Unseen.
Gravethorn on Signing with Wormholedeath: “I am truly excited to be working with the Wormholedeath family on this release. I’ve put a lot of hard work and sacrifice into putting this all together, learning new things, and experimenting with others, and I didn’t want to just go through anybody to get it out there for the world to hear. Carlo Belotti and Wormholedeath are absolutely on top of their game in this profession, and the bands on Wormholedeath are all incredible talents and gifted musicians, evidenced by the discipline and hard work they put into their craft. In an era where the current crop of metal is truly growing in popularity and there are so many bands out there sounding very similar, it seems that Wormholedeath certainly can pick the best from several ends of the spectrum and bring them to their exotic landscape of creative brilliance. I’m very excited to call Wormholedeath our home.”
Unveiling “Atrocitas”
Gravethorn’s new release “Atrocitas” is a continuation of the debut release, “Underground Rituals of Those Unseen”. Harnessing the anger and sense of overcoming all who oppress- the battle wages on as we are slowly uniting as a people and coming together in numbers to dissolve those who feel the greed for power, whether religious, political, financial, or other. If there ever was going to be an uprising, perhaps Atrocitas would be the soundtrack of a revolution. It was written and recorded in Krystof’s studio when he had COVID-19, and some of the medication he was taking may have influenced how the music came out (perhaps it opened the doors to the spiritual world to share ideas of those no longer with us).
Atrocitas also features contributions from notable collaborators, including Joshua Bednarski (from the band Atomic War Machine) and Dave Sharpe (from the bands Dead by Wednesday, End Time Illusion, The Cro-Mags, and Dave Ellefson’s [of Megadeth] side band).
Dive into the dark world of Gravethorn with the lyric video for ‘Barbaric War Declared’:
Gravethorn is a Blackened Death Metal band from Las Vegas, NV, formed in 2021 by Krystof during his journey to learn extreme metal mixing in his home studio, built during the 2020 pandemic. Initially working with recordings from his previous band Achromatica, which eventually disbanded, Krystof continued creating music, resulting in the release of several songs on Spotify and YouTube. Drummer Bob Hill (from Achromatica) later joined, and in October 2023, they unleashed their debut album, Underground Rituals of Those Unseen, which received critical acclaim from outlets like Metalized, Rock Hard, and Slowly We Rot.
Gravethorn’s unique sound blends influences from bands like Emperor, Deicide, Amon Amarth, and even The Doors and Led Zeppelin, creating a distinctive blend of Blackened Death Metal. Known for embracing collaboration, the band has worked with notable musicians, including Glenn Lai (Achromatica) and Brian Crapser (Putrid Decay).
While quarantined with COVID-19 in October 2023, Krystof channeled his energy into writing and recording new material, resulting in the upcoming 2024 album Atrocitas, set to be released via Wormholedeath Records. Gravethorn continues to defy rigid genre classifications, staying true to their simple goal of making metal music, unbound by specific labels.
