The post-black metal band Besna from Bratislava has released another new single after more than a month. The track, “Hranice” (The Pyres), is available on all streaming platforms and the band’s official Bandcamp page.
The new song is more straightforward and draws from a specific blend of black metal elements, strong melodies, and hardcore influences. The single is dedicated to the memory of Jan Palach and all those who resisted the oppression of authoritarian communism in Czechoslovakia.
With this release, the band continues the sonic and thematic direction set by their recent single “Krásno” (Beauty), which followed two and a half years after their Award-winning debut album Zverstvá (Atrocities), and shortly after its release, the band followed up with the benefit single “Neha” (Affection). Besna plans to release their entire new album, also titled Krásno, at the beginning of 2025.
The single was recorded and mixed by Jakub Hríbik and Jakub Spiszak at the Pulp studio in Bratislava, with mastering handled by Alexander Vatagin. The artwork was created by Andrej Eternal, and the band’s logo was refined by Maxim Ishutin.
To support the single’s release, the band shared a live video from their recent performance in Bratislava, which is available on their YouTube channel. The video was filmed and produced by Štefan Šimuni.
Supported by public funding from the Slovak Arts Council.
