Today, Armageddon Label announces December 6th as the international release date for Seein Red‘s long-awaited comeback album, Refuse Resist, on vinyl LP format.

This record is the first full-length with new songs by Seein Red since the band re-started in 2018 after a hiatus of six-and a-half years. It was recorded in a three-hour session in 2021, mixed in 2022, and mastered and released in 2024.

State the band, “The record sleeve of Refuse Resist is reading Antifa all over it because we live in a time that far-right politicians and parties are gaining more power and actually winning national elections, as the PVV did in our country. This record is a reflection of this swing to the far-right. The contours of fascism we see right now is a form of capitalism in acute crisis and decay. It relies on hyper-nationalism, open violence, state terror, bigotry, injustice, and extreme racist scapegoating. We are under attack, and we have to stand up and fight back! Most, if not all, the lyrics on this record are dealing with this fight back, working-class politics, and the runaway acceleration of exploitation of this capitalist society. It’s a fucking political record, and a clenched-fist salute to the underground DIY punk community.”

And for those who need some back story…. “Around 1988, Seein Red – Olav (drums), Jos (bass), and Paul (guitar / shouting) – was born out of the ashes of Lärm. After eight years of short, fast, and noisy hardcore punk, we wanted to try out something new. In the early years of Seein Red, we attempted to play more mid-tempo and melodic punk with cutting political lyrics challenging the bigotry and injustice of capitalist society. We took influences from bands like the Rondos, the Faith, Ignition, Fuel, The Clash, Minutemen, etc. and tried to make it our own.

“After a few records, we started to realize that our musical skills were not good enough to keep our new sound interesting. At the same time, in 1994, we saw bands like Stack and Dropdead at the Vort’n vis Fest in Belgium, which made such an impact that we slowly but steadily started to play short-and-fast hardcore punk again.

“The past 36 years, we have made a shitload of records, CDs, and tapes. Our discography counts about 50 releases. We played hundreds of gigs and toured all over Europe, America (3x), and Japan (2x).

“In 2012, we had to stop Seein Red because Jos had serious ear damage due multiple infections and exposure to noise. It seemed to be the final end of Seein Red… But against all the odds and after a six-and-a-half-year noise hiatus and surgery on both ears, Jos’ hearing had improved to such an extent that, in the summer of 2018, Seein Red started to practice and play gigs again. Since then, we are back with a hardcore punk noise attack. ‘Keep on keeping on until the fight is won!'”
