Prophecy Fest announces three more artists for the 2025 edition of the three day event, of which two will perform special sets: Norwegian pagan black & progressive metal pioneers ENSLAVED will travel back in time to perform their legendary EP “Hordanes Land” that was released in the early days of the second wave of black metal in 1993. Eclectic German metal & gothic duo AUTUMNBLAZE have agreed to bring two sets to the cave: They will start with presenting songs from their first three full-lengths in an old school set, while their ‘best of’ show follows up with material from the later albums. Last but never least, US avant-garde doom project KAYO DOT will pay Europe one of their rare visits to present a selection of their unique songs in Balve.
Martin Koller comments: “We are always doing our best to bring special treats to the celebration of dark sonic diversity that is Prophecy Fest”, the founder of the fest states. “Hopefully, you are looking as much forward to the special shows that Enslaved and Autumnblaze have promised to perform as we are, and you will also get the great opportunity to catch the amazing Kayo Dot live in Europe.”
Prophecy Fest 2025 will bring dark, forward thinking music with an attitude to one of the world’s most fascinating cultural locations, the legendary, natural Cave of Balve (“Balver Höhle”). The price for a 3-Day-Pass 2025 has been set at 149 € (plus service charge).

LOCATION & TRAVEL
Prophecy Fest was founded in 2015 and sold out its first edition. This singular event for dark and innovative music takes place in the Balver Kulturhöhle (“Balve culture cave”) in the Hönnetal (“Valley of Hönne”) near the town of Balve in the Sauerland region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The naturally formed karst cave has been used by humans since the early Stone Age (palaeolithic). This important archaeological site has yielded remains from many periods through the ages until medieval times. According to Germanic legend as told in the old Icelandic Thidreksaga, the mythical blacksmith Wayland came to this cave to learn his magical craft from the dwarven masters that were dwelling there.
The gravity of its history and the special acoustics of the Balver Cave provide a unique atmosphere that perfectly echoes the musical spirit of Prophecy Fest.

New confirmed shows:
No need to introduce ENSLAVED. They are part of the granite that Norwegian black metal is build on. Hailing from the West Coast, these veterans have developed their own style and even set themselves lyrically apart from their peers by making metaphoric use of Norse myth. The treat of the legendary “Hordanes Land” EP, which was released as a split with EMPEROR, will deliver ancient feelings for all black souls.
AUTUMNBLAZE have never been an easy band to pigeonhole, and this might be partially responsible that the German duo has always been notoriously hard to catch live. Well, here we are, these masters of melancholia, whether expressed in rock or metal, even agreed to perform two sets: one with their first three albums that will not only delight old school fans but also a second one with the best of the rest.
KAYO DOT once rose from the ashes of MAUDLIN OF THE WELL, and for a shjort interlude even returned live to their roots. The unique US avant-garde doom project has steadily enlarged their fanbase and their latest album “Moss Grew on the Swords and Plowshares Alike” was enthusiastically received. How the trio will bring their plethora of instruments onto the stage remains to be seen. Do not miss!
