ELUSIVE GOD set release date for new PERSONAL RECORDS album, reveal first track

On May 9th internationally, Personal Records is proud to present Elusive God‘s highly anticipated second album, Ambis, on CD format.

Elusive God are an epic doom metal band from Croatia, formed in 2018. The band offer their vision of doom metal as a dark, heavy, and atmospheric genre with strong traditional metal influence, arguably creating a signature Croatian METAL sound.

In the very beginning, uniquely, Elusive God acted as an art collective, releasing videos for the songs “Silence is Our Doom” and “Dream Within a Dream.” Their goal was to bring darkness and mysticism back into METAL music. Also, it was important to make a statement: “We are Elusive God, and we’re here to play some doom-fucking-METAL the way we think it’s supposed to be played.” The important influence that makes their sound distinctive originates from the traditional music & melodies of the northern parts of Croatia, along with traditional music from the vast areas that range from the Carpathian Mountains up to the Pannonian Plain.

In 2020, Elusive God‘s The Darkest Flame EP was released by the esteemed Solitude Productions, largely introducing the band to the broader doom metal audience all over the world. Two years later came their debut album, Trapped in a Future Unknown. Here, even though the overall sound is really melancholic, there’s always some sort of epic grandiosity offered to the listener. Of especial note is the album’s closer, “Dreaming of Reality,” which presented Elusive God in a powerful combination of genres, intertwining both their dark and epic aspects.

At the end of 2022, Elusive God made their very first live appearance at the Satan Klaus Festival in Volyne, Czechia. This unique event was recorded. And since the band were so pleased with the whole festival, atmosphere, and live recording, they decided to self-release the live album Doom in Bohemia, presenting a perfect overview of what Elusive God‘s live show is all about. Mention must also be made of the epic show they played at 2023’s edition of the Doom Over Vienna festival. This show confirmed that there is a dedicated Elusive God following in Europe and, to them personally, that they are truly a part of a really remarkable doom metal scene.

In early 2024, Elusive God released the single “Ples Demona” accompanied by a short movie. This single was a preview of their forthcoming second album, Ambis. Once again, they decided to take a step further and refine their signature doom metal sound with lyrics sung in their native language. The reason for singing in the Croatian language is the greater possibility of authentic expression, given that the songs deal with personal topics. In addition, the vocal parts take on a completely different dimension depending on the language in which the band sings.

There’s an underlying story that connects all the lyrics on Ambis together: a seriously dark aspect of personal transformation offering a great sense of grandiosity and epicness towards the end. Of course, musically, Elusive God‘s epic and grandiose moments are still present as an excellent contrast to the unprecedented anger, pain and aggression. For Elusive God, it’s all about constantly reconnecting with what matters most – expression, art, and the story it holds – and Ambis is undoubtedly their most compelling & cohesive reconnection yet. Highly recommended for maniacs of classic Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Atlantean Kodex, DoomSword, Krux, and especially Russia’s cult Scald – silence is our doom!
