Ukrainian Metallic Hardcore: BREAK THE HABIT Presents Their New EP

Ukrainian band moves away from past genre traits, embracing the broader possibilities of their new lineup.

On March 27, Kyiv-based hardcore band Break The Habit will unveil its second EP, Крізь Мутне Скло (Through Murky Glass). The release will be available both digitally and on cassettes via Neformat Family.

“Blending a love for ’90s and ’00s metalcore with years of experience, Break The Habit delivers a solid release that seamlessly fuses metal with powerful mosh sections.”

This new EP marks a distinct step forward from Break The Habit’s previous work, as it was created with an updated lineup — featuring Pedro on bass and Maksym on drums. This time, the musicians address some long-standing creative needs: adding groove to their music and making their sound more recognizable. According to the band, the EP showcases their improved songwriting and promises an engaging listening experience.

“Four tracks with different moods and an outro are all tied together by our lives, full of contrasts now. One moment, you can be incredibly happy, and the next, you’re hiding from missiles,” says the band’s guitarist, Lilia“Of course, this has influenced our music. Creating it helps us stay sane in these difficult times.”

By the time this EP is released, the band vocalist Anton will already serve in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Despite this, the band continues working on new material and recently even performed a brand-new song live.

“Maybe it’s the chemistry between us, maybe it’s experience, but we manage to write new songs pretty fast. If all goes well, we plan another release this year. But life itself is to decide,” adds drummer Maksym.

The EP is available for pre-order on Bandcamp, and on March 27, it will hit streaming platforms.
