MÜTTERLEIN disclose new album & first single

MÜTTERLEIN, the solo-project of composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist Marion Leclercq (ex-OVERMARS), proudly presents the highly anticipated successor to 2021’s acclaimed “Bring Down The Flags“. The evocatively titled “Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound“, opens new dimensions where harrowing vocals, disconcerting post-Metal guitars and gloom-ridden synth meet the pounding kick of basement techno and hammering tom-heavy drum patterns.

Tracklist:

01. Anarcha
02. Concrete Black
03. Wounded Grace
04. Memorial One
05. Division of Pain
06. Ivory Claws
07. Memorial Two

All music is written and performed by MÜTTERLEIN, except ‘Memorial One‘ and ‘Memorial Two‘ crafted in cooperation with TREHA SEKTORI. The album was recorded at Diskar Loar in 2024, and mixed and mastered by Tim De Gieter (AMENRATHROANE) at Much Luv Studio.

Artwork & layout designed by Dehn Sora (THROANE).

Tense and fraught with emotional resonance, “Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound” lyrically explores the deep and haunting scars etched by oppression across history. Through seven meticulously crafted compositions the album weaves abrasive, darkly cinematic and profoundly haunting Industrial soundscapes.

In the words of MÜTTERLEIN:

Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound” is a musical tribute, a memorial work that explores the deep wounds left by oppression throughout history. This album is an ode to all those who have suffered in silence, especially women, whose bodies have been instrumentalised and sacrificed, like Anarcha Westcott, a tragic and emblematic figure in the history of modern gynaecology.

My music is drawn to the silent world – those stories, lives, and sufferings that history ignores or erases. Anarcha Westcott was one of many victims of the oppression and slavery that built the foundations of Western progress. Her story is not an exception but a reflection of a larger system that thrives on the suffering of the most vulnerable. And too often, women bear the deepest scars. Especially now, when the world seems to be slipping back into obscurantism and violence, it feels almost absurd to talk about these things. It’s as if we’re stuck in a loop, questioning whether we’ve ever really moved forward at all. When personal pain meets collective history, the weight of silence is suffocating. I don’t pretend that music can change anything. But sometimes, making noise feels like the only thing left to do.

The album’s first single, ‘Concrete Black‘, serves as a powerfully dark introduction, seamlessly blending haunting melodies with relentless intensity. MÜTTERLEIN‘s infernal screams pierce through layers of industrial decay and ritualistic dread, leaving an eerie and indelible impression.

MÜTTERLEIN describes ‘Concrete Black‘:

Concrete Black‘ is the first song I am sharing because it embodies the feeling that runs through the album. The lyrics express a sense of ongoing struggle: despite creating, despite trying to make sense of things, there’s this constant feeling of estrangement with the world around me. We seem to disappoint each other endlessly. The image of being ‘hollowed in concrete black’ reflects a sense of being trapped in this disconnect, unable to escape it, while the world burns on. It’s not the first track on the album, but I thought it was important to release it first because it captures the essence of the album – a confrontation with a world that feels distant and chaotic. May our organs resound amidst this tension, reminding us of the humanity we share in the face of it all.

Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound” will be released on CD, vinyl (including an exclusive DMP vinyl variant) and digital on May 9th. A special t-shirt design will accompany the launch. Pre-orders are possible via DMP’s EUUS, and Bandcamp shops.

MÜTTERLEIN is the solo project of Marion Leclercq (ex-OVERMARS), composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist.

Adopted in 2014, this pseudonym is a nod to the nightmarish yet fragile work of NICO, who in many ways deconstructed the unbearable myth of ‘femininity’ imposed on us.

Musically, MÜTTERLEIN mixes Post-Punk savagery, Doom, Noise, Industrial and Black Metal to create a vast universe of Post-Metal experimentation.

First album, “Orphans Of The Black Sun” – released in 2016 on Sundust Records, a label co-run by Vindsval from BLUT AUS NORD – leaned towards the Post-Punk and Doom registers using minimalist, cold instrumentation to create a record organic and ritualistic as a witch-dance around a fire.

In 2020, MÜTTERLEIN responded to an invitation by the artist LIMBES (ex-BLURR THROWER) to create a mirror piece to his epic 25 minute track entitled “Vérité” (French for Truth) for a split release issued in 2021 by LADLO. The free format allowed MÜTTERLEIN to experiment even further, constructing a slow, desolate dreamscape of doom-laden Dark Ambient.

Bring Down The Flags“, MÜTTERLEIN‘s second album, was released in late 2021 by Debemur Morti Productions. Dark, haunting and immediate, the album incorporated more electronic sounds and blackened Industrial atmospheres to serve a more direct subject and voice.

After a couple of years performing both solo and alongside TREHA SEKTORI following the release of “Bring Down The Flags“, Marion helped forge a new entity, EITRIN, in collaboration with Dehn Sora (THROANETREHA SEKTORI) and Vindsval (BLUT AUS NORD). The alliance was conceived to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Debemur Morti Productions, with an instinctive and impassioned self-titled debut album released in December 2023. As a crowning moment, both MÜTTERLEIN and EITRIN graced the stage at the label’s own Servants of Chaos festival in October 2024.

In early 2025, MÜTTERLEIN unveiled plans for a third album, “Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound“, a work that delves into the profound scars left by oppression throughout history. Anchored by an abrasive and darkly cinematic industrial soundscape, “Amidst the Flames…” is set to be released on May 9th.
