The southern Estonian Black Metal veterans Pagansarv have released their second full-length “Pööriööl” (“At Solstice Night”). The eight-track album forces the listener into a turbulent dreamlike journey through the deep layers of pagan space.
The band’s debut album, “Kaarnakarva” released through Warhorn Records in 2021 received a lot of positive attention within and outside of the Estonian metal circles. “Pööriööl” is the logical continuation of the ensemble’s life path. The core tandem Argoth and Pimedus have been active in the black metal landscapes of southern Estonia for a long time, also jointly in the band Urt. It is therefore no surprise to hear in the soundscape both Estonian and Nordic influences of pagan metal, whose traditions go back to the 1990s. “Pööriööl” is embedded in one by stormy rage and lyrical melancholy, a modern accurately stinging soundscape and spiritual primordial tongues sprung from the moment of birth of the world.
„Pööriööl“ was mixed and mastered by the Norwegian Rune Stavnesli (Stavmix Studio), who has also been the sound creator for Whoredom Rife.
The album will be released by the Tartu label Warhorn Records on Digipak CD and Gatekeeper Records on cassette on the 4th of April.
