Sielue presents “Marrasaamun kyyneleet”, the third single and music video from the upcoming album “Askel tyhjyyteen”, due for release on May 23, 2025.
A solemn dawn breaks. Rain washes over the land. Footsteps of the fallen echo through time. “Marrasaamun kyyneleet” (‘A Dead November Morning’s Tears’) is a tribute to those who gave everything – their lives, their health, their very souls – so that future generations could stand in freedom. Inspired by Finland’s struggle for independence through two world wars, the song carries a deeply personal weight, honouring the sacrifices of the artist’s own grandfather, who endured the horrors of the frontlines and captivity.
Driven by an unyielding pulse, the song builds with grim determination, rising into a chorus of defiant euphoria. As the refrain bursts forth, the weight of history falls away – the shackles are broken, and the song of a free land rings out. A searing guitar solo takes flight, a voice beyond words, carrying the spirit of those who stood tall and refused to bow.
There is no politics here – only reverence for those who endured and gratitude for those who toiled beyond the battlefield. Finland rose from the ashes, not by miracle, but through relentless struggle.
“Marrasaamun kyyneleet” is a song of resilience, of a people who would not kneel, and of the unbreakable will that carried them forward.

Janne Posti commented:
The video was created by my friend Ludvig Swärd, whose artistic eye and sense for symbolism brought out the deeper layers of the song. It enhances the emotion already present in the music, and it was a true pleasure to collaborate with him in this form as well.
Shot in late November – the same time of year the Winter War began – the video explores contrasts between light and darkness, solitude and grandeur, humanity and the wilderness. The torch symbolises our duty to carry the legacy of those who came before us. We must never let Finland’s spirit fade.

Askel tyhjyyteen
In the secluded wilderness of northeastern Finland, a solitary journey has taken shape. Sielue, the latest endeavour of multi-instrumentalist Janne Posti (Häxkapell, Sons of Crom), marks a profound return to his musical roots, as he steps beyond his metal and classical foundations to explore the realm of dark acoustic folk.
“Askel tyhjyyteen” (‘A Step Into Emptiness’) is a collection of diverse songs woven together by themes of life and death. Drawing on his classical training in piano, vocals, composition, and arrangement, Janne crafts intricate melodies where acoustic guitar and piano take centre stage.
The album captures the desolation and solitude of the wilderness surrounding Posti’s family cabin, embodying autumn winds, dense fog, and the haunting resonance of a freezing lake – the ‘singing ice’ recorded shortly after his initial writing session on All Hallow’s Eve in 2022. Song structures range from traditional verse-chorus formats to linear compositions, reflecting Janne’s eclectic musical background across metal, rock, pop, jazz, folk, and classical genres.
“Askel tyhjyyteen” is more than an album; it is a personal testament and a spiritual journey. It invites listeners to embrace the longing for another plane of existence and the beauty found in the acceptance of mortality. In stepping into emptiness, Sielue embarks on a journey that doesn’t end at the grave but begins there – into the winds of the cosmos, guided by swans through a portal to a place of peace and fulfilment.
Janne commented:
In addition to my extensive explorations of the darker sides of music, a huge part of this album is all the music I heard when I was a kid. My parents’ love for rock and pop, both Finnish and from abroad, and especially for songs with good melodies, made me the musician I am today. Hector, Juice Leskinen, the Beatles, Elton John, David Bowie, Slade, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Marie Fredriksson, ABBA, Olavi Virta, Tapio Rautavaara, Beethoven, Khachaturian, Hurriganes, Dire Straits, Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, U2, Rauli Badding Somerjoki, Eppu Normaali… all of these influences can be felt on the album. This is the first time I’ve allowed myself to dig into these depths and combine them with my own musical journey beyond childhood.
