Twenty damn years. That’s how long HELL:ON has been tearing it up from the heart of Ukraine – through lineup shifts, label drama, and now an actual war. No trends chased, no compromises made. Just full-tilt death metal, carved out of chaos and conviction. What started as a pissed-off underground unit in the early 2000s has grown into a battle-hardened machine that never took a break, never cleaned it up for the mainstream, and never needed to. HELL:ON is still here – loud, ugly, and absolutely vital.
“Today we celebrate 20th anniversary of the band. And one thing we can say for sure… we are still alive and we still playing death metal!” – says the band
As part of the 20-year chaos, HELL:ON just dropped a live video from their set at Metal Injection’s Slay At Home fest – raw, loud, and exactly how it should be: https://youtu.be/V7l8BADaBDg
Hell:on was formed in early 2005 in Zaporizhzhia, Eastern Ukraine. Hell:on plays death metal with oriental and tribal elements. The band’s lyrics generally deal with mysticism, philosophy, and anti-religion. During the recordings of previous albums, the band has worked with Andreas Kisser, Jeff Waters, Andy LaRocque, and Marek Pajak.
In 2019, the band was nominated as the Best Ukrainian Metal Act and has shared the stage with Rotting Christ, Kreator, Marduk, Napalm Death, etc.
In 2024, HELL:ON dropped their seventh full-length, Shaman (via Archivist Records) – and it didn’t go unnoticed, showing up on heavy album-of-the-year lists worldwide.
