CHAINSWORD - Polish brutal old school death metal with new EP “Chapter XII”

Chainsword plays Old School Death Metal – dirty, heavy and hard, like the life of a private at the battlefront. The band loved the 1990s musically, and Warhammer 40k and both world wars of the previous century lyrically.

The new mini-album “Chapter XII” is the next step in Chainsword‘s uncompromising war offensive. It contains five new tracks immersed in old-school death metal and endless war atmospheres: ‘Primarch’, ‘Contemptor’, ‘Foresworn’, ‘Butcherhorde’ and ‘Gorechild’. These are Warhammer 40K-themed compositions. The other two, due to the time limit of the vinyl disc, did not fit on the previous album “Born Triumphant.” ‘Good Mourning, Vietnam’ and ‘Fox, Rats, Blood & Guts’ treat respectively – about the Vietnam War and World War II in North Africa.

The EP ‘Chapter XII’ features guest appearances by musicians from the stoner rock band Dopelord. In the song ‘Foresworn’, the guitar solo was played by Grzegorz “Mroku” Pawlowski, and in ‘Butcherhorde’, the vocals were provided by Pawel “Miodek” Mioduchowski.

The material was recorded mainly under the supervision of Mikołaj Kiciak, and mixed, as with previous albums, by Haldor Grunberg, who together formed Sound of Records.

The group was founded in 2016. Warsaw. The first single ‘Dreadquake Mortar’ was released in 2018. After two more songs, in 2021. Chainsword released their debut album, ‘Blightmarch,’ through the Godz Ov War label. The first album received positive reviews both at home and abroad. In 2024, the band released a second album entitled “Born Triumphant”.

Chainsword played numerous club concerts around the country. They also performed at many festivals. These include Poland’s Summer Dying Loud and Black Waves Fest, Hungary’s Insane Hellride Fest and Finland’s Mökäfest.
