Romanian atmospheric post-black metal visionaries Genune have just unveiled a brand-new single, “Stay A Little Longer,” premiering now at Invisible Oranges, who praised the track’s subtle complexity: “‘Stay A Little Longer’ blurs these differences, recalibrating shoegaze guitar melodies into black metal and raveling clean vocals into its climax. It’s indicative of drama, yet Genune keep it vague.”
The song offers another evocative glimpse into their upcoming third album, Infinite Presence, which arrives May 17 via Consouling Sounds.

The band comments: ‘Stay a Little Longer’ is about witnessing illness and struggle in someone you love and being unable to help. Lyrically, it contrasts descriptions of psychological struggle imposed over the desire for the simplicity and tranquility of everyday life. The music follows the same progression, with the earlier parts of the song being aggressive and dissonant and switching to a more melodic stage as the desire for normality is invoked. The last part of the song was at the time I wrote it, an attempt at representing depression resolving into a return to harmony.

Formed in 2012, Genune found their true voice with the 2018 debut Cern Sol, building a unique sonic identity that fuses the intensity of post-black metal with elements of shoegaze, electronica, Americana, and Anatolian rock. Their music is captivating and richly textured, moving between moments of fierce intensity and delicate introspection.
Lyrically, the band continues to explore themes of time, consciousness, identity, and existence, told through a poetic, modernist lens. Their 2021 album Inert & Unerring focused on the intricacies of identity — a theme expanded and transformed on Infinite Presence.
Written between summer 2023 and summer 2024, the new record is a meditation on memory, impermanence, and presence in absence. It’s a work of subtle catharsis and spiritual reflection — as ethereal as it is grounded. The album will be available on black vinyl, cool blue vinyl, CD, and digital formats, and marks a profound artistic leap — one born from radiant hope and deep absence. Pre-orders are now available at this location.
