U.S. Death Metal veterans, Viogression, have completed the recording process for upcoming fourth album, Thaumaturgic Veil, which is currently being mastered by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio in Denver, CO. The album is set for a July 11 release. The band is now pleased to present the stunning artwork for this ambitious effort!
The album cover for Thaumaturgic Veil, created by artist Deigo Gedoz de Souza, is a haunting visual tapestry that intertwines the album’s conceptual framework. The cover’s dominant palette of muted greens, grays, and blues evokes a liminal space, a psychoacoustic membrane that mirrors the Thaumaturgic Veil itself—a barrier between the manifest universe and unquantifiable magic.
Deigo Gedoz de Souza, a Brazilian artist renowned in the metal community, brings his signature dark and fantastical style to Thaumaturgic Veil. Known for his meticulous detail and mastery of gothic and horror aesthetics, De Souza crafts atmospheres that feel ancient and otherworldly, making him an ideal collaborator for Viogression’s ambitious vision. His blend of surrealism with grim realism, as seen in this cover, evoke decay and transformation—key themes in the album’s alchemical narrative creating a cover that serves as a visual gateway into the album’s sonic journey.

Formed in 1988, Viogression swiftly forged a formidable presence in the metal underground with three searing demos, paving the way for their critically lauded debut, Expound & Exhort (1990). This landmark release launched them onto a world tour, igniting stages alongside Death and Pestilence. Their second album, Passage (1994), released incomplete, led to a nine-year hiatus. Reborn in 2003, Viogression unleashed fresh material, culminating in the 2014 EP, A Pure Formality, which sparked the band’s comeback with electrifying festival performances. Defying 2020’s global turmoil, they delivered 3rd Stage of Decay, released worldwide in 2022 through Satanath Records and Moribund Records. Now, Viogression stands on the brink of their fourth album, Thaumaturgic Veil, set for Summer 2025, poised to unleash a cataclysmic new chapter in their storied legacy.
