Los Angeles Power Thrashers ANUBIS reveal the lyric video to new song “The Hood Collector.” One of three tracks that will be found on tomorrow’s digital EP release, ‘The Puppeteers.’ Pre-Save now HERE https://lnk.to/thepuppeteers

“’The Hood Collector’ is one of the most straightforward power metal songs of our career,” explains singer Devin Reiche. “Melodic and upbeat, here we’ve taken cues from the classic German power metal bands from the ’90s – Helloween, Gamma Ray, Edguy, etc.

Lyrically, this song is our tribute to Daryl Davis: a jazz musician who claims to have personally de-converted over 200 former Klan members and gotten them to renounce their hateful ways – each of them giving him their hood and robes as a symbolic gesture.”

The Hood Collector” like last month’s “Leper Lord” lyric video https://youtu.be/ZHykqbPIQnc?si=yYhSckG8H2PC7G0l were both created by Scott Rudd (Opeth, Hammerfall).

“So, why, after releasing our debut full-length album, did we decide to go back to digital EP format?” questions Devin. “Well, several months ago, we decided to bump up our go-to live growler for songs like “Devour” and “Strife,” Hanna Preston, to a full-time member, and fully commit to a dual clean/harsh vocal approach. This was a pretty big decision, and one that will inevitably result in a shift towards a heavier sound.
“The problem is, at the time, we had just finished our second album, which obviously reflects our previous tone and songwriting approach. So, rather than committing to a full album cycle’s worth of gigging for material that was not written with the current lineup in mind, we decided to take the three songs most reminiscent of our heretofore traditional sound—thrash-infused power metal—and release them as a their own EP as a ‘send-off’ to the classic sound, thereby opening up space on the second album for some material reflecting the more updated version of ANUBIS.”

“This EP marks the end of an era for us—a swansong that closes one chapter with fire before we dive into darker, heavier waters,” explains bassist Will Buckley. “These songs showcase the final form of the sound that built ‘Dark Paradise.’”

Fans of melodic, high speed, power metal take note as ‘The Puppeteers’ EP will satisfy your craving. It serves as not only a continuation of the sound found on ANUBIS’ remarkable ‘Dark Paradise’ album, but also as a stop-gap as the quintet continues to play shows all over Southern California, including recent plays supporting Warbringer, Delain, Xandria and Dreadlands.

In the meantime, as the group readies their next chapter ‘Dark Paradise’ is still available on CD, limited colored (300) heartless purple vinyl and digital. Order now https://lnk.to/anubis
