Harbingers of despair, Brûleur Du Soir, Construire La Dépression
A heavy mix of melancholy riffs howling vocals and a think layer of raw atmosphere. The album Translating to “Building Depression”, the album is not just a title — it’s a philosophy.
From the deeply personal lyrics.
Filled with pain anger and concern.
To the layering and production of the fuzzed out guitars and ethereal ambience.
This record is non-stop confession of vulnerabilit.

Brûleur Du Soir is a completely new formation. Could you please introduce the band and talk about your vision for the music? So we have myself François on vocals And Rot on Instrumental previously of For mother. We are a French black metal for northern Ontario. We try to create a large atmosphere and we hope to invoke a strong emotional response from the listener. And bring them into our world without becoming a rockstar like figure. Have you ever played in other bands before? How long have you been making music, and which genres interest you the most? Some of the members have come over from a band called For Mother out of Sudbury Ontario. And I was great friends with that band helping them with tours, social media, anything. That went on for about 8 years. That’s when everyone started making music. Learning playing live, writing, and recording. We never really made music before then. As for genres we don’t pay as much attention to it when it comes to listening. But there is so much going on in the black metal scene we tend to gravitate towards every new band and every new song. Being that it’s so easy to locate so much it feels endless and free. The new album came together rather quickly – and now our readers can even listen to it. What can you tell us about these songs? What would you compare Brûleur Du Soir’s Construire La Dépression album to? The build up to these songs were inspired from some of our favorite bands such as Psychonaut, None, Winter willow and Vixenta as they helped us creatively such as the vocals being heavily inspired by P4 and instrumental wise as a mix of everything. The Songs themselves came together rather quickly. There was so much happening at the time of writing these songs everything flowed very naturally. At one point the release almost never saw the light of day to the vulnerable feeling that came from the music resulting in several mental breaks required for each member between the completion of every song due to how deeply personal everything on this record is. Will this release be available in a physical, tangible format as well? Do you guys hope to find a label in the future? We would love to have a physical release. but the want for physical copies has never been great enough. As an independent band it is difficult to manage a physical release in a digital age, if we do release something physical on our own it will be a limited release. So yes we very much hope to obtain a label to help back us. What’s your opinion on the fact that an increasing amount of music in this style is emerging nowadays? Could it be that people are very much fed up with the chaotic state of the world? I think that yes the environment everyone is forced in right now breeds negativity. resulting in a very negative form of art, the wars, the TV peoples financial situations i am sure for so many the outlet of aggressive music is the only thing keeping many people going. What kind of follow-up do you think we can expect after Construire La Dépression? Do you have any plans already? We do have a few ideas such as finding some full time members to perform live and hit the road if possible. But if this never comes to be then we will continue to create music until we cannot do it any more. We have already started working on new material. this time we want more songs and more features a collaboration of artists. How mysterious do you intend to be — what can we know about you personally? In which extent do you live a rather ordinary life? Mysterious maybe. I think remaining with the mask was important. To help find a separation in our head from the music of this band and everything else. The previous band, the city, our jobs. It creates something that feels much stronger than yourself in your everyday life. Something that’s interesting even when you are not. We live ordinary lives all far away from each other. With most of us really only socializing in bars and party’s outside of that most people would never see us as we never leave our home. Would you be willing to list some things that you’re fed up with in this current life? If you could, in which direction would you change the world? Fed up with I’m sure there’s a thousand things I could list but probably shouldn’t one thing I feel I can say is AI I am fed up with the A.I art, logos photos videos, everything to do with it. If you scroll through any platform now it’s full of fake Media. Either being music or YouTube or some stupid top ten list it seems to be deemed Acceptable by the majority of the audience consuming it. As for how I could change the world I could say solve world hunger and change the economy to better all. And that is something I wish no one had to deal with, but in that same vain I suppose it mostly does not concern me. I think no matter what I’d chose us as humans would find a way to mess that up. What message would you like to send to DSBM fans? How should they behave? 🙂 I don’t think I could indicate to a group and or person how they should behave. I think everyone should do exactly what they want. I hope the fans of DSBM black metal and hell even Taylor Swift Fans enjoy the record. |
