Aggressive vocals blend with an uncompromising death metal sound that comes with a groove and manages to transfer the virtues of the Great Old Ones into the present.”
NEW WORLD DEPRESSION were founded in the historic Münsterland, to the north of the more famous Ruhr Area and with the once powerful bishopric and medieval city of Münster at its centre, in the year 2005. The Germans started out with a more death’n’roll sound on the debut EP “The Last Step of Evolution” (2005) as their first public sign of life, which was followed by the full-length “Unseal Pandora’s Curse” (2008).
During their early development, NEW WORLD DEPRESSION began to shift gradually towards old school death metal by taking inspiration from bands such as ASPHYX, BOLT THROWER, and OBITUARY. Fascinated by the groove-driven, crushing style of the nineties, which combined raw intensity with striking melodies, the Münsterlanders found their true calling and passion.
NEW WORLD DEPRESSION deliberately opted to stay within underground DIY circles and released six albums and two EPs through channels of the die-hard death metal scene. Despite this set-up, the band was regularly invited to perform at festivals and as support at shows across Europe. Over the years, they shared stages with leading acts of the scene such as ASPHYX, LIK, SINISTER, TANKARD, UADA, and VADER among many others.
With the 2020 album “Decent”, NEW WORLD DEPRESSION decided to step up their game and opted for a professional production and label. This move forward was greeted with excellent reviews and more shows, which led to the band continuing on this path with their next full-length “Interment of Sins” (2023), which was rewarded with even more success on all levels.
In early 2025, NEW WORLD DEPRESSION returned to the renowned Soundloge Studio in East Frisia to record their seventh album under the guidance of Jörg Uken, which will be released by their new label Testimony Records.
