From the heart of argentine Patagonia, symphonic metal trio SOMNIUM begins to shape the universe of their debut album with the release of “Lejos del abismo” (far from the abyss), an introspective and atmospheric track that showcases the band’s most serene side. This is a glimpse of a larger work set to be released in the coming months of 2025. Broadly speaking, this southern argentine band blends the power of metal with a sweeping, epic sensibility, drawing influence not only from metal giants but also from cinematic soundtracks. Their aim: to craft a musical narrative that moves between the emotional and the grandiose, with a clearly conceptual and cinematic focus.
“Lejos del abismo” serves as an emotional introduction to SOMNIUM’s world. Unlike other, more intense moments that will be part of the album, this track leans on Patricia Mora’s enveloping vocals and a carefully arranged instrumental backdrop, highlighting the group’s melodic dimension without sacrificing depth. It is the first of two singles that will precede an album with a distinct identity—born in the landscapes of southern Argentina but with global ambition. With this new release, SOMNIUM takes a firm first step into a pivotal new chapter, opening a portal to the heart of a record that promises to take listeners on a journey as intimate as it is epic.
About SOMNIUM
The project began to take shape in 2019, born from a desire to fuse metal and epic soundscapes. SOMNIUM is the joint creation of Darío Rietman (keyboardist from Lago Puelo) and Fabio Nahuelquir (guitarist from El Bolsón), rooted in a clear vision: to merge symphonic metal with electronic elements in order to craft a unique and emotionally charged sound. They cite undeniable influences such as NIGHTWISH and HANS ZIMMER, among others.
In 2020, Patricia Mora (vocals and lyrics, from Trevelin) joined the project as lead singer. With her vocal talent and ability to convey deep emotion, Patricia completed the musical puzzle SOMNIUM had envisioned from the beginning. Her powerful, emotive voice has become the signature sound that brings the band’s lyrics and melodies to life, solidifying the project’s identity.
Since then, SOMNIUM has kept its original lineup intact—a testament to the strength and harmony among its members. The band has also released a music video titled “Humanidad”, which combines a captivating visual narrative with their powerful sound. They are currently working on the production of their highly anticipated debut album.
