On August 25th internationally, Antiq is proud to present the highly anticipated fifth album of Austria’s Rauhnåcht, Zwischenwelten.
Rauhnåcht is a one-man project created in 2009, initially based on the Alpine folk music of Sturmpercht. Blending ur-folk style with aggressive black metal and meditative ambiances and dreamscapes, the band bids a mix of grand power and discrete, subtle whispers. With such albums as Vortweltschweigen (2010, Percht), Urzeitgeist (2014, Hammerheart), and Unterm Gipfelthron (2018, Debemur Morti), a bunch of splits, and one wintersynth step aside (Winterstille – Antiq, 2022), the band imposed a style of Alpine black metal based on long-worked arrangements.
Rauhnåcht is discrete on internet, as the main member is rather a mountain-walker and hermit. Living his art as an approach of his lifestyle is part of the project. After a seminal concert at the A Hoagascht event with Gràb and Lunar Aurora, the band is now back with a new album to affirm the style.
Zwischenwelten is an album way darker than the last Rauhnåcht metal album, Unterm Gipfelthron. With wind-fast blasts, the atmosphere sets the basic theme of the album: the confrontation of parallel realities. Suitably, the title of the album translated to English means “the worlds between the worlds.” The cover created by Joanna Maeyens speaks well for this gap between the worlds. Modernity and ancient times, material world and spirituality, timeline of speed and eternity of slow growth – each gap between the worlds is a world in itself.
Antiq is a label dedicated to the fully coherent concept of making music through sound, image, video, and attitude. They have been putting their entire existence into it since 2009. Over the years, Antiq have been identified as producers of not only perfectly coherent lyrics and themes through music, but also conceptual art and, of course, the manufacturing of beautiful objects. The label tries as much as it can to work with French creators, and if possible, with the smallest and most serious structures.
