Poland’s CLAIRVOYANCE was forged in late 2019 by vocalist Maciej Cesarczyk and guitarist Denis Didenko. The duo eventually locked into an old-school death metal sound and welcomed drummer Adrian Szczepański and bassist Jasiek Kraciuk to the lineup. Taking inspiration mostly from Finnish and American bands from the ’90s, the quartet quickly conjured a three-song demo, released in May of 2020. The demo, while only ten minutes long, was received positively both locally and internationally. Caligari Records would go on to release the demo on cassette, while Poland’s Behind The Mountain label whelped release the 7″ vinyl edition.

They also started playing local shows, quickly gaining notability within Warsaw’s death metal underground. Łukasz Lipski, a well-known musician in the local punk scene, asked to join the band and became the fifth member, bringing a much-needed second guitar to the band’s live appearance.

CLAIRVOYANCE spent the entirety of 2021 working on new songs and playing occasional live shows. That year also marked the departure of the bassist Jasiek Kraciuk, who left the band due to personal reasons right after the recording of the new songs were completed. Soon thereafter, Kacper Pawluk joined CLAIRVOYANCE, and in this lineup the band approached the release of the new EP, Threshold Of Nothingness, released via Blood Harvest in May of 2022. Of the EP, VM Underground hailed, “first-class death metal that will not disappoint,” while Metal Bite wrote, “Threshold Of Nothingness brings back the old death metal feeling with a slightly refurbished and redone attitude.”

Later that year, Lipski left the band to focus on his solo projects, and the band took a short break to recharge and reevaluate their approach to music. CLAIRVOYANCE recruited Vlad Levchenko to the bass position and Pawluk switched to guitar. The band returned to the the studio in the Summer of 2024 to record their long overdue debut LP, Chasm Of Immurement. By upping the intensity and the aggressiveness of their sound, the band hopes to start a new chapter in their journey and to show their listeners what CLAIRVOYANCE was truly meant to be.

“…it’s a full-frontal assault chest caver, five-plus minutes of frenzied riffing, blast beats and doomy segues. These dudes… aim to destroy via all available means. Stomp. Stab. Crush. Pummel. Repeat.” – Decibel Magazine on “Eternal Blaze”

“This is good, ugly, death metal fun… CLAIRVOYANCE know how to handle the material, have an ear for a good riff, and can throw out crushing grooves like nobody’s business.”  Wonderbox Metal

“‘Eternal Blaze’ deploys poisonously slithering and jubilantly demented fretwork executed at tremolo’d speed, lots of dynamically cavorting drumwork, noxious abyssal gutturals, and a few doses of massive piledriver blows for good measure… Ugly and exhilarating stuff for sure.” – No Clean Singing on “Eternal Blaze”

“…impressively well-formed beyond the current expected tropes of its sub-genre. CLAIRVOYANCE have a sharp ear for the primal efficacy of death metal and generally do well to build tumult and easier-going grooves within this largely mid-paced format. A death metal album should burn the ear from across the room, leave the listener’s skull smoking on a sonic level, and these folks have done well to present a mean enough sonic experience….”  Mystification ‘Zine
