Decibel Magazine is hosting the exclusive premiere for “Death Serenade,” the demonic new track from Alberta-based black/death metal cult REVELATOR – the latest preview of their debut LP, Light The Devil’s Fire.
REVELATOR’s Light The Devil’s Fire arrives, pummeling the listener with ten rampaging songs. The band offers an arcane and ancient black/death assault hearkening back to the riff lords of yesteryear: Desaster, Mortuary Drape, Nifelheim, and the earliest years of black metal. Light The Devil’s Fire was recorded by Rob Lawless at Lawless Recordings, mixed by Derek Orthner at Derek Orthner Audio, mastered by Drew Copland and Vector Sound, and completed with cover art by Christine Angela, and layout by Alasdair Rintoul.
With the “Death Serenade” single, the band declares, “‘Death Serenade’ is a soaring black metal hymn that wields triumphant riffs like banners of conquest, evoking the grandeur of a forgotten empire reborn in flame. Its melodies surge with regal might, weaving a tapestry of victory through relentless blast beats and proud, ascending guitar work. Beneath the chaos lies a noble spirit—unyielding, majestic, and cold as the steel of a conqueror’s blade.”
With its exclusive premiere, Decibel’s calls the “Death Serenade” track, “a nearly four-minute tremolo-picking workout with thrashy punk underpinnings,” noting how REVELATOR, “rampage through the track with a concise, well-honed viciousness that is completely free of any unnecessary excesses, just straight-up pummeling fury.”
