Long-running Brazilian thrash metal act Distraught has just dropped their brand-new EP, inVolution, now available on all major streaming platforms. With over 35 years of career and consistent relevance in the metal scene, Distraught remains one of South America’s most enduring and impactful heavy music bands — and this new release is a bold statement of both sonic intensity and lyrical urgency.

Packed with five blistering tracks, inVolution delivers a furious blend of heaviness and depth, presenting a dark and thought-provoking concept that takes aim at human and environmental collapse. Each song represents one of the five classical elements — EarthWaterAirFire, and Aether — while tackling themes like greed, climate destruction, denialism, and the ongoing moral decline of modern society.

The tracks “Bloody Mines”“Extermination Of Mother Nature”“Aether”“Truth Denied” and “Setfire” form the conceptual core of the EP, offering a brutal yet thoughtful take on Brazilian thrash with both conviction and clarity.

The EP was recorded in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and brought together a team of seasoned professionals. Drums were tracked by Thiago Caurio at Black Stork Studio, while vocals, guitars, and bass were recorded by Renato Osorio at Dry House Studio. Mixing duties were handled by Benhur Lima, who gave the material a sharp, powerful, and modern edge. The cover artwork was created by none other than Marcelo Vasco (Slayer, Kreator, Machine Head), adding a striking visual element to match the music’s weight.

With six full-length albums, two live releases, and a long history of impactful singles and covers, Distraught continues to play a vital role in the Brazilian metal landscape. inVolution is more than just a new release — it’s a call to awareness through art and aggression.

“Metal isn’t just about attitude — it’s also about awareness”, says founding vocalist André Meyer. “’inVolution’ is a warning about the abyss of human deconstruction we’re headed toward. And it might be closer than we think if nothing changes.”

The current lineup features André Meyer (vocals), Ricardo Silveira and Everton Acosta (guitars), Alan Holz (bass), and Thiago Caurio (drums). A physical CD release is in the works, and the band is currently looking for labels interested in supporting the edition.
