It’s no secret Baltimore, MD has one of the strongest hardcore scenes in America and the next band to watch coming out of the Charm City is Ousted. Having released a demo in 2023, Ousted now announce their first proper EP, How Do You Cope?, set for release September 19th on Ashtray Monument Records. Featuring members of Pulling Teeth, Ruiner, Neolithic, and Dosser, the band is crafting hardcore that strikes a perfect balance between urgent and melodious.

Today, Ousted share driving single “Self hate for people who love self hate.” The relatable track addresses burn out and self worth, racing through lyrics that build those agonizing thoughts into a cathartic release. Influence from bands like Propagandhi and Disfear come through in the song’s punchy, aggressive riffs and infectious gang vocals. You can stream “Self hate for people who love self hate” on Bandcamp and other streaming services.

Throughout How Do You Cope? Ousted address “the overall feeling and reoccurring theme is based a lot around the stages grief. From anger and bitterness, to depression and anxiety.” The seven tracks resonate with a restless delivery, sweeping through assertive vocals, melodic hooks, and gritty, layered rhythms. Working with their friends, Justin Smith of SWEAT and  Dangers lends his vocals on opener “Sunkissed” and Alex Cha of Pig Destroyer created a harsh noise sample on the track “Heavy Breather.” The EP was produced, recorded, and mixed by Justin Day at New Noise Recording Studio (End It, Glocca Morra) in Baltimore and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.

How Do You Cope? is available for vinyl preorder now through Ashtray Monument Records.
