Norwegian extreme metal act Brotthogg returns with the crushing new single/music video “I Daudastund”, out now on all streaming platforms.
The track is taken from the band’s upcoming fourth full-length album ‘Ved Veis Ende’, set for release on September 15th.
Known for their progressive blend of black metal, thrash and melodic death metal, “I Daudastund” stands out as the most black metal-influenced track on the new album.
The band comments:
“This is an aggressive yet darkly melodic piece that pays tribute to our roots from the late ’90s, recreating some of the atmosphere from bands we were involved in back then, like Hinn Mesta and Subliritum. The song is rooted in the eerie spirit of ’90s black metal, delivered with precision and intensity. A sonic glimpse into the bleak and mythic themes that define Ved Veis Ende, so to speak.”
Blending icy black metal atmospheres with razor-sharp riffing, “I Daudastund” offers a chilling taste of what’s to come on ‘Ved Veis Ende‘.
Lyrically, the song draws from Norwegian folklore and explores the figure of the grim reaper—known locally as “Mannen med ljåen”—a presence believed to appear when death is near. Rooted in rural superstition and oral tradition, the song channels the spectral tension of old folktales passed down through generations.
The single is accompanied by a music video, visually capturing the cold, ominous tone – a raw and atmospheric complement to the track’s grim themes. Watch the official video for “I Daudastund” on their bands YouTube channel.
